Wan-Yaari Aboriginal Boys Cultural Program

The Wan-Yaari Aboriginal Boys Cultural Program runs every Wednesday from 4:00-5:30pm at the Grovedale Community Hub with the aim of engaging Aboriginal boys and young men aged 8-18yrs. The program aims to enhance and strengthen connection to culture, Aboriginal identity and positive wellbeing in a fun, safe and supportive environment. Spanish Playgroup: A group of parents with young children who speak Spanish and meet weekly for friendship and playtime activities.                                        Every Monday 9.30-11.30am, $2.50 per family p/wk. Contact: GNH 5241 5717.

What’s new @ Portarlington Neighbourhood House

Literary weekend returns to Portarlington - Midwinter Words. Portarlington’s annual literary event, will be held on July 22 with appearances by authors Mark Smith, Greg Foyster and Dorothy Johnston. It will appeal to readers as well as writers, giving the audience an insight into the literary world of fiction and non-fiction. Book sales and author signings will follow the event. 

Greg Foyster will run his popular workshop: Writing About the Environment, starting at 1:30pm. The workshop is capped at 20 participants and those attending will receive workshop notes and a book. 

Tickets are available at the Portarlington Neighbourhood House, 28 Brown Street, Portarlington. 

Panel discussion tickets are $10 each, while tickets including the workshop are $50. The Portarlington Neighbourhood House is open from Monday to Friday between 10 am and 3 pm except the first Thursday of each month, when it’s closed. Leopold Drawing Group: Are you interested in drawing? Join this group to share ideas with some instruction and assistance available. BYO projects. Beginners welcome. Wednesdays 10.00am-12.00noon. Cost - $5 per week. 

Gateway Crafters: This long running group undertake a range of projects. New members are always welcome. Wednesdays 12.30 - 3pm.
Cost - $3 per week.
