out & about

The French Oak Trading Company, based in Anglesea, provides the Surf Coast with access to quality reclaimed French Oak boards, beams and parquetry (200+ years old). There is extra wide new French Oak; as well as hand crafted, vintage French farmhouse design pieces. Michael and Toula Roden, captivated by the provenance and enduring appeal of reclaimed French Oak and its inherent characteristics, began a journey some 18 months ago to source this unique, rare timber and to bring it to life on the Surf Coast, through the French Oak Trading Company.

Reclaimed French Oak has been salvaged from old farmhouses, barns and sheds across Europe by a team of experts. The unique timeless beauty of this timber captures the imagination, inspires creativity and can breathe new life and individuality, to any contemporary architecture and interiors project. Extra wide new French Oak is now also available and originates from the Lorraine region, which is renowned for its wide grain patterns that result from the area’s mild winters. Both reclaimed and new French Oak, are ideal for custom flooring, joinery, furniture making and bespoke timber works.

Vintage French Farmhouse Design Elements (50 to 150 years old), have been handpicked by the team for their individuality and style. The range includes beautiful rustic cheeseboards, hand carved wooden bowls, bread proving trays, wheat threshing boards, rare terracotta urns, farm implements, zinc olive/grape picking buckets and barn doors. If you are looking for a truly unique building product and/or distinctive design elements that have endured the test of time, come along to the French Oak Trading’s Anglesea warehouse.

Warehouse open by appointment during the month of August.
